Happy Independence Day!

Hey look at us! We did an opera!
When I thought about what my first lead role in an opera was going to be, La Zia Principessa from Suor Angelica never made the cut. I am not the voice type for this role (I am a soprano and this role is for contralto-pretty much the opposite); however, I did it. It goes to show how special Peak Vocal Academy is. We are all learning-even me.
The most difficult part of the experience was having to do the majority of the jobs myself. I am supremely grateful to all of those who volunteered on performance day; however, I burned myself out pretty quickly. So, I took the month of June to rest, recover, and reconsider how PVA needs to move forward in the future. My conclusion: We need a board of directors.
I have brought this up in previous newsletters, but I feel it needs more attention now. I am including the descriptions of the responsibilities of board members as written in the bylaws of Peak Vocal Academy. All members of the board will have full access to these. But for now, here is what you need to know:
Each member of the Board of Directors shall:
- serve for a minimum of one (1) year
- attend at least six (6) monthly meetings of the Board per year.
- assist in at least one artistic production as needed
- be involved in voting for resolutions pertaining to the governance of the organization
- assist in fundraising efforts for the organization
Ideally, Peak Vocal Academy should have a Board of 9 voting members. These would constitute the official Board of Directors and would execute the aforementioned responsibilities under my guidance. The purpose of this is so that I can concentrate on carrying out our mission: to train exceptional performers.
