Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! It’s 2022 and I am full of the hope and feeling of renewal that comes with the start of a new year. I thoroughly enjoyed my time off for the holidays, but I am ready to get back to work. I am so excited for this year.

As I reflect on the past year, I think about the struggles with schedules and balance and priorities that I had, but I also think about what those struggles have taught me. I learned that I have to protect my time fiercely or I will be overrun with things to do and end up feeling like this cat.

I have to learn to say no and that is something I struggle with. This year, however, I am setting hard boundaries on the number of students I am taking so that I can really focus on the few that I can manage. I feel like this is the best way to produce the kind of quality musical education that I envision for PVA. There are a few openings available, but they are very limited.

The other thing that I have been reflecting on is the growth of the studio. I have a vision…

I want to see Peak Vocal Academy grow to include a semi-profession opera company. A company with a small army of volunteers, singers, and teachers that help us produce high quality opera and musical theater productions on a regular basis. I want a dedicated space in which to do said productions that can also be a space where we can offer group classes and hire more teachers. One day, PVA fans, one day.

But I will sound the call: if anyone knows of a teacher that would like to join the PVA family to help teach some classes, I would love to meet them. For now, I am grateful for another year with my students; another year of singing; another year filled with music and learning. What a wonderful year it will be!
